Here is a photo of the dress I bought:

And the one I am going back to get as a back-up:

In the words of C.S. Lewis: “Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives.” I know that Austin doesn’t like school dances, let alone senior balls, but he is still taking me and I’m incredibly thankful for that.
Massive picture post from the past two days, part I:

Breakfast at Candlelight

My prom dress!! It looks much better in person. I’m actually thinking about buying a back up dress in case I don’t want to wear this one (a midnight blue strapless that is fitted through the thigh). In both cases I’ll be wearing either red heels or Grecian sandals with a cardigan. Soooooo happy!

Here are some books I’m considering for my HST review this term:
- Salem Witchcraft, Volumes I and II by Charles Upham (A portion of this)
- The Evolution of Modern Medicine by William Osler (A portion of this; period correct)
- Hispanic Nations of the New World; A Chronicle of our Southern Neighbors by Various (?)
Like I told my professor, I’m not sure if any of these would be appropriate for the project since I’ve never read HST non-fiction but if anyone has any suggestions on pre-colonial to 1840 focused novels, please share them. I’m really interested in finding something on Elizabeth I’s influence and reign over England, The Salem Witch Trails, or the medical techniques/advances during that period, so PLEASE tell me if you know of any (well-written ones).
Huzzah! The first week of school has finally ended. My scedule, which I think I’ve posted before, is History 201, Mondays and Wednesdays, Math 60, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a career class on Tuesday evening. I designed my scedule to be completely stress-proof… getting things done with out it becoming too over-bearing.
Like I said, it is only the first week of classes, but I feel prepared for the onslaught (if there is any) of homework. My history and career classes are both relatively easy. There isn’t a consistent amount of homework- about three assignments for our career course and one for our history course throughout the rest of the term. My math class is the only one that gives us daily assignments, which I can have done by the time of our next class (but again, they are not assignments that the teacher actually reviews or credits). This being said, I’m going to have plenty of time to plan my senior scedule and visit Austin without disrupting the balance of my college life. I already have a date set for Toga Day (the 21st of October- join me and Jennifer in your own toga variation!), and am taking my senior pictures this following weekend. Here is one of the test shots (hahaha) I took myself. I look really sallow and malnutritioned :

Here are some of the events I’m adding to my senior calender. I had to make up names for some of the traditions because I couldn’t remember them-
Toga Day - Oct 21st, 08.
Senior Pictures – DUE BY Nov 1st, 08.
Senior Skip Day – Oct 28th, 08 to Nov 2nd, 08.
Senior Yearbook - Ongoing project. Date TBA.
Senior Ball/Prom – Date TBA.
Sporting Event - I’m determined to attend one of these (preferably a football game), in addition to Austin’s track meets this year.
Class Rings – Promised to me upon receiving my associates (my own design), 09′.
Senior Pride Day – I think the alternative for this is senior stomp day? It’s when senior girls do their senior t-shirts and wear their school colors (GO Panthers- yellow & black!!). Date TBA (Sometime in Nov 08).
That is about all that I can think of. If there are any traditions I missed please tell me so that I can add it to my calender.
